Children and young people told the Commissioner that they’re concerned about who is excluded from school and what support excluded students receive to remain engaged with their education. In an effort to capture the voices of children and young people with experiences of school exclusion, the Commissioner hosted as series of consultations, workshops and a survey.
A total of 319 South Australian children and young people participated in the ‘School Exclusions Survey’ undertaken between September and November 2019. The survey aimed to find out what children and young people view and understand school suspensions, exclusions and expulsions.
From the responses to this survey, the Commissioner generated The Blame Game.
