Transport is central to how young people experience their community and affects almost every aspect of their lives. Young people’s access to a full range of reliable, consistent and integrated transport options is not just a ‘nice to have’ – it is an essential component of their full participation in society as active and engaged citizens.
The Commissioner has regularly heard from children and young people that negative experiences with South Australia’s public transport system are common and leave them feeling unsafe and unheard. In order to capture the voices of young people, the Commissioner released a survey asking about the major issues with public transport and suggestions for fixing them. The survey received over 1100 responses from young people aged 13-20.
From the comments and experiences of these young people, the Commissioner produced Trust is a Must.
